Facts About Emerald Princess Cruises

Have you been considering a cruise on the Emerald Princess cruise ship? Here are the facts that you need to know before choosing Emerald Princess cruises for your next dream vacation cruise.

The Emerald Princess is a beautiful mega-cruise ship, launched in April 2007. The 113,561-ton ship carries 3,070 passengers and 1,225 crew. She looks much like her sister ship the Crown Princess, which was launched in 2006. The Emerald Princess can cruise at almost 24 knots when at full speed, and she holds over 3500 tons of fuel and 3300 cubic meters of fresh water. The exterior of the Emerald Princess is all-white, with a blunt tail, making it almost look like something has been chopped off. The ship has 19 decks and has impressive measurements--951 feet long by 195 feet tall by 159 feet wide (including bridge wings) or 118 feet wide (excluding bridge wings).

Book a suite to get two TVs, a wet bar, and a separate shower and tub (whirlpool tub in Grand Suites).Emerald Princess An extended room-service menu is also available for suite passengers, as are priority dining reservations and all the amenities extended to Elite Captain's Circle members. This ship can be very busy during peak season so I would definitely recommend the upgrade to the Grand Suite when choosing Emerald Princess cruises for you dream vacation.

The dining on the Emerald Princess is varied, with lots of cuisine options in its three main dining rooms and nine other venues serving food around the ship. The ship also has several "special" dining options, such as the Chef's Table, Ultimate Balcony Dinner, Sabatini's, and the Crown Grill.

Emerald Princess also offers "Movies Under the Stars," a huge (300 sq. ft) flat panel rear-projection video screen and 6900 watts of sound power to show up to four different near first-run films daily outdoors above the pool. This was such a hit on Caribbean Princess that the concept was added to all the large Princess ships. On some ships they hand out headphones to viewers to alleviate complaints from nearby cabins.

The main gathering spot, the three deck tall, open Piazza, has boutiques, the 24-hour International Café, the Internet access room, the Vines wine-tasting room and and passenger services, all connected by circular glass staircases and glass elevators. It's the best people-watching place on the ship, especially when there's a string quartet playing a piece you adore, but watch out for the street performers who will sneak up on you and make you a captive audience of two. Among the nearby public rooms are the casino, entrances to the two open-seating dining rooms, and the shore excursions desk.
